Last Pictures - Totaled on December 20th 2013

A women turned left in front of me about a mile from work at 7:45am on Friday, December 20th 2013. I was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where I spent the next 4 days. I got home about 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 24th. The bike was totaled, as you can see from the folowing pictures. I have 4 broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, damage to a tendon in my left pinky finger, pretty serious damage to my right knee, and a bunch of bruises.

I still have to see a specialist about my knee, but it looks like I'll be out of work for a while. The doctor said 6-9 months after the surgery before my knee will be back to near pre-accident mobility, but even then I'm looking at about 80% presurgery strength.

Update - In physical therapy now. Had surgery on the knee on Jan. 8th 2014. They replaced the ACL, LCL, and poplitus tendon. It's now March 7th and I'm walking on only 1 crutch. Still have a leg brace that extends from my hip to my ankle, but that might change at my next doctors appt in 3 weeks.

Update - Finished with physical therapy June 29th. Just about totally out of the brace (only wear it for special occasions now), and I'm walking with almost no limp most of the time. Not running yet, but I will be soon... Still have not replaced the bike, but I'm working on it!

This is a pic of my knee a week or so after surgery. The ACL was replaced arthroscopically, but the LCL and poplitus tendons had to be done the hard way...
